Message big cid supercharged V8. (or high power electric car too). No lag at all :) No need to downshift from fifth gear at 70mph when try to overtake other. One question though...if you having driven any big turbo Z(or any small-displacement big-turbo car), how do you perceive "lag"? Driving one far beats reading the dyno plot or hear-say from other.

Also, if you want a quick spool turbo (medium power) car, a you might want to check out the VR4 with TD04-11B turbos. Those car spool instantly. I think full boost by 3500rpm. Pretty quick too.
